I found the hotel to be quite lacking, with a really rough atmosphere at the entrance and a strong stench of stale cigarettes. While I appreciated the friendly staff who checked me in, the outdated facilities and shared bathrooms were huge downsides. The room itself was okay, but the overall experience was disappointing, especially for a work trip. I can't recommend it unless you're just looking for a cheap place to crash for one night.

Rooms
5.0
The room was okay but dated, and had a musty smell. It was equipped with a sink, microwave, and a small fridge, but the shared bathrooms left much to be desired.
Service
7.0
The check-in staff were polite and accommodating, but there wasn't much support available after hours.
Location
5.0
The location felt unsafe upon entry, with some questionable characters outside, which made me uncomfortable.
Dining

Breakfast options were fine with cereals and a fry-up, but nothing remarkable.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were in need of significant refurbishment, especially the shared bathrooms that were not clean during my stay.

6.2/10

My stay at the Victoria Park Hotel had its ups and downs. While the price is incredibly affordable for Derby, the shared bathroom situation wasn't ideal for me, and I encountered some maintenance issues. However, the cleanliness of the rooms and the helpfulness of the staff were definitely highlights.

Rooms
5.0
The rooms were reasonably clean but somewhat dated, and mine had a strange bed condition. Shared bathrooms can be uncomfortable, especially when there's no air circulation.
Service
7.0
The staff was helpful and polite when I arrived, but I noticed some issues that should have been addressed concerning the room's facilities.
Location
8.0
It’s not far from the city center, making it convenient for exploring Derby. The area felt generally safe, which is a plus for solo travelers.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast options were decent enough, but I didn’t get to enjoy it much as I left early. I was tempted by the smells each morning.
Facilities
5.0
Facilities are basic; shared bathrooms were clean but could use better ventilation, and the presence of a communal living area was a bit noisy.

I had a pretty good stay at the hotel for the price I paid, which was just £40 a night for a double room with breakfast. The rooms were clean and cozy, which made for a comfortable stay. The location was decent with a bus stop right outside, but it was a bit of a walk to the city center. Overall, I'd say it’s a good choice if you’re on a budget, but be prepared to share a bathroom.

I didn't have breakfast due to time constraints, but it smelled great and I wish I had tried it.

5.0/10

My stay at the hotel was quite disappointing overall. Despite the low price, which was tempting, the experience was marred by numerous issues. The room quality was poor, with damp conditions and a lack of cleanliness that made it uncomfortable. On the upside, I found the breakfast to be nice, and the dining area was clean. However, the combination of issues like a noisy environment and unsafe stairways made this place less than ideal for a stay.

Rooms
5.0
The room I was given was in the cellar, which was damp and smelled terrible. The ceiling was low, and it felt claustrophobic. The large number of maintenance issues made it hard to enjoy my stay.
Service
5.0
While the staff was polite, the service felt lackluster overall. I didn't feel welcomed or valued as a guest, which added to my disappointment.
Location
6.0
The hotel is located near Derby city center, which is convenient, but the overall atmosphere feels off with the nearby noise and lack of comfort.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was quite nice, although the service could have been better as there were some misunderstandings with the order.
Facilities
5.0
The shared bathroom facilities were a big downside as they were not cleaned properly, and there was no attention to detail in maintaining safety.

I had an interesting stay at this hotel. On one hand, my room was clean and modern with a comfy bed, but on the other hand, the shared bathroom situation was not ideal, even though I didn't have to queue. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, offering a great variety, but the sausage could have been better. Overall, it's good for short stays but not quite the hotel experience I was expecting.

Rooms
7.0
The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable, with a big TV and even a little fridge, which was a nice bonus. However, it was a bit cold and lacked a private bathroom.
Service
8.0
The staff were approachable and friendly, always willing to help, which added to the experience.
Location
9.0
It's conveniently located near the city center, making it easy to explore the area on foot.
Dining
7.0
Breakfast was generous and plentiful, with a variety to choose from, though it could have started earlier to avoid noise from other guests.
Facilities
6.0
While the hotel lacked some typical hotel facilities like a lift and had communal bathrooms, it still provided a decent experience overall.
